2023's Hottest Color Palettes for Graphic Designers

What makes the perfect color palette? Does it have to be trendy? How many colors should you use?

In this article, we’ll explore what makes an appealing color scheme, how to make your own unique color scheme, and how to find inspiration from today’s hottest color palettes in graphic design.

Let’s get started!

Jewel Tones

The jewel tones of emerald green, ruby red, sapphire blue, and topaz yellow are trending in 2023. The colors are perfect for both summer and winter seasons due to their rich tones that create a unique contrast with both dark and light backgrounds.

It is also a great time to make a logo or branding color scheme using these trending colors. The four seasons are represented by the four different shades:

Emerald Green

Ruby Red

Sapphire Blue

Topaz Yellow.

Consider adding one of these colors to your logo or branding!

Monochromatic Colors

This trending color palette is all about monochromatic colors. You could go with a classic black and white, or choose a more bold tone like red, blue, or green.

This color scheme is perfect for graphic designers as it provides a clean and simple look that helps your message stand out on the page.

A popular hue used in this palette is purple, which can be paired with any of the aforementioned colors to create interesting combinations. Some other popular hues are pink and gray. Pink can give an airy and lighthearted feel, while gray often has connotations of sophistication.

Bold, Bright Colors

The color trends in graphic design have been headed towards brightness and boldness as we head into 2023. The hue of your design can depend on what mood you are trying to convey.

For example, a very bright color may be more appropriate for a business that is all about fun and excitement.

But if you want to create a sense of luxury, then use deep colors such as purple or red. If you are looking to convey professionalism, then keep the colors simple by using black, white and gray.

Below are some popular hues that designers will find useful in their work:

Turquoise - Inspired by the ocean, turquoise is an easy-going, carefree color that conveys relaxation and balance.

Purple - Purple has long been associated with royalty, nobility, wealth and mystery. It is traditionally associated with nobility but over time it has also become symbolic of creativity and wisdom because it requires a level of sensitivity that only those who've studied hard can understand.

Pink - A rosy pink expresses love, sweetness and happiness which might be why people often use this color in wedding designs to symbolize femininity or innocence. Pink can also symbolize youthfulness, fragility or naivety so it’s important to make sure that the tone matches what you are trying to communicate before applying this color anywhere in your graphic design work.

Earth Tones

The natural color palette of earth tones is a perfect choice for graphic designers. Natural colors such as browns, tans, and grays are trending in many industries, so they are perfect to incorporate into designs.

Earth tone palettes can be paired with other colors to create more vivid and unique palettes. Colors like red or blue will make earth tone images stand out from the rest!

Graphic design experts should use these earth-toned palettes as an accent color that really pops.

Metallic Colors

The world of graphic design is not one that you can predict. Trends change and so do tastes, but some colors never seem to go out of style.

These are the colors that designers know they can always rely on no matter what year it is. You may find these colors popping up in everything from packaging to advertisements, but this does not mean that they are not versatile and can be used with other palettes as well.

The current trend in color is towards metallic hues and here are a few examples of what should be on your radar: gold, silver, bronze, rose gold, copper, platinum and even blackened gold.

You can use these colors to create gradient backgrounds or for certain shapes within an illustration. What’s more, there are new technologies that allow digital graphic designers to make their work look like it has a metal texture.
